The St. Louis College of Pharmacy Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Use Policy has been implemented to safeguard the wellbeing and the privacy of STLCOP students, faculty, staff, visitors, and neighbors, protect College buildings and property, and establish a safe and compliant UAS operating culture for research, teaching, and professional activities.

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS)

Any unmanned aircraft, vehicle, remote control or free-flight drone, helicopter, airplane, mechanically propelled, propellant guided or lighter-than-air balloon, and rockets of any size; all associated elements for flight, including communication links, control components, navigation equipment, etc.

Details:

I. Permitted Uses and Operations of Unmanned Aircraft Systems

   A. Recreational Use: The use of UAS on the STLCOP campus, or in College owned, rented, or leased property or buildings by individuals for recreational purposes is strictly  prohibited.

   B. Non-recreational Uses: Due to the complexity and dynamic nature of FAA UAS regulations at this time, anyone desiring to use a UAS for research, teaching, or professional activities on or from the STLCOP campus, or in College owned, rented, or leased property or buildings, shall contact the Office of Environmental Health & Safety or General Counsel for guidance on how to meet current FAA regulatory requirements.

II. Sanctions

Violations of this policy will be handled by the appropriate judicial or performance review processes for violator(s), typically Culture and Campus Life or Human Resources. Violations resulting in damage, injury, or death, or repeat violations, may result in more severe sanctions up to and including suspension, expulsion, or termination.
